"Why is shipping so expensive and can you use another carrier other that Fedex?"
First, it is either illegal or against a carrier's policy to ship tarantulas and other arthropods (ex. USPS, UPS, or DHL). Second, Fedex specializes in shipping live animals and has proven to be the most reliable carrier. We only ship Fedex Priority Overnight to arrive 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to ensure animals are get too warm and/or hot during months with temps 85F+ and also to reduce traveling time. Fedex Priority overnight starts at $55 for a small box of 6"x6"x7" at 1 lb. We are on the east coast, so if you are on the west coast, shipping will run around $65+. Sorry, we can't do anything about that. During milder temps of the early fall and late spring, you can go with Fedex 2nd day service for $35, but note, like is industry standard, there is no live arrival guarantee with this service. To make it worth shipping costs, we always encourage you to make a large order to make shipping costs worth it.
"Why don't use list the exact size of an animal? Why give ranges in your price list?"
Because everyone has different ways of measuring and some people will get petty with measuring things to the millimeter. Also, spiderlings and juveniles in-stock molt more often and the size can change .25" to 1" each molt. In the future, we might just list a species as spiderling, juvenile, sub-adult, and adult to eliminate people arguing over .10".
"What is the smallest tarantula size you can sex 100% accurately?"
For terrestrials, we can sex ventrally with high accurately tarantulas 2.5"+. For arboreal species, the genitalia is smaller, so we need them to 3.5". We can't guarantee when a species is going to molt to sex out a molt skin.
"Can you sex your centipede?"
Sorry, centipedes can not be accurately sexed live ventrally. Only under controlled conditions, using carbon dioxide, and a microscope can this be done. This is risky to the centipede, and risky if we have a rare species, and we don't have the equipment to conduct this procedure. IF, we know of a centipede that made eggs, then we will advertise it as a female.
"Can you sex your scorpions?"
We do not advertise sexed scorpions unless one had babies or it was sexed by a scorpion expert so please don't ask to have them sexed. Some species are smaller, venomous, and require a lot of effort to immobilize to count pectine appendages. Also, for small orders, we honestly just don't have time to do that.
"What does CB, CR, and WC mean?"
CB = captive-born
CR = captive-raised
WC = wild-caught
